Ajay Piramal leads the Piramal Group, a diversified conglomerate with a presence across 100 countries. Ajay Piramal, an Indian Businessman is a Forbes Billionaire. A onetime horse-riding champion, he draws inspiration from the Bhagvad Gita. Piramal Realty is Mr. Ajay Piramal’s fully-owned real estate venture. He has a track record of spotting potential much ahead of the curve. He developed India’s first mall, Cross Roads, at South Mumbai. He also was one the first to develop organized work space at Lower Parel. He has also built landmark structures such as Ashok Towers.

He is Chairman of Pratham India, which is the largest non-governmental organization in the education sector, and reaches out to 33 million children through its “Read India” campaign.

Sowmya Kidambi joined the International Budget Partnership as Trainer/Technical Assistance Provider in October 2008.  She is responsible for conducting training courses on expenditure tracking with a special emphasis on social audits.  Since 1998, she worked with the Mazdoor Kisan Shakti Sangathan (MKSS) based in Rajasthan, India. While Kidambi continues to be a member of the MKSS, since April 2006 she has been its representative on an assignment as Social Development Specialist with the Strategies and Performance Innovations Unit, Department of Rural Development, Government of Andhra Pradesh (India) to institutionalize the social audit process as part of the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme.

Ekam was formally inaugurated on Doctor’s day July 1st 2007 as a Community Pediatric Project of CIOSA (Confederation of  Indian Organisations for service and Advocacy) which is the CSR initiative of Mafoi foundation. Ekam changed into a Public private partnership model by joining hands with the government health department on 14th Nov, 2008. Ekam Foundation spun off as separate organization in August 2009.
